West Hull FM supported by the Goodwin Development Trust and operates on a not-for-profit basis and is currently funded by sponsors, advertisers, grants and public donations.
Our aim is to produce truly local radio, working with volunteers, local groups and organisations to give a voice to the community.
The station is staffed, mostly be a team of dedicated, committed volunteers who excel in producing and presenting unique and innovative programming.
West Hull FM started broadcasting in 2007 as WHCR and is a not-for-profit community station licensed by Ofcom to
broadcast to West Hull and the surrounding area on 106.9fm.
We are staffed mostly by volunteers and receive our income from advertising, sponsorship, donations, fund raising activities and
grants – all of which help with the running costs of the station.
Over 100,000 people live within our target area, choosing to listen, both on FM and on-line.

West Hull FM Community Radio started broadcasting on March 26th 2007 from the Goodwin Centre, moving to Anlaby Road in 2011.
We currently broadcast from our purpose built studio complex in the Darley’s building on Porter Street in the heart of Hull.
